About Magnolia Learning
Magnolia Learning’s Owner & Tutor:
Magnolia Learning is owned and operated by Katelynn Deal, an Amherst County native and Longwood University alumna. After earning her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Masters Degree in Reading, she taught 3rd grade for 5 years, serving as a curriculum team member and mentor for new teachers. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, thrifting, and going on morning walks.
Magnolia Learning’s Name:
Magnolia Learning is named in honor of Katelynn’s grandmother, a driving force in developing Katelynn’s love for reading. Memories with her grandmother include baking bread, learning to read the Bible, and having long conversations by the Magnolia trees. These memories ignited a deep passion for literacy and fueled Katelynn’s desire to become a teacher and reading specialist.
Magnolia Learning’s Mission Statement:
Magnolia Learning is dedicated to promoting love of reading, nurturing family connection, and ensuring each child receives high-quality reading instruction backed by the science of reading.
